[Proj#7 Permission Statement appears at the end of my Aftermath story.]
Topic/Focus: Project#7 was based on the mechanics of a writing exercise described by Jennifer Pitcock Doneske in "Writing Exercise - Dathril" on her Elfwood page. For Proj#7, everyone started with exactly the same information. I had already written the ‘seed’ that would be used, and each participant then had the opportunity to take the story in his or her own direction! Each written work was required to include the segment I had written but, other than that, authors were free to follow wherever their imaginings led them. Obviously, our artists could not include my intro, so what I asked of them was: "read the short piece I’ve written then do visually what the Project writers will do with words. That means you cannot paint or draw the scene I’ve written, you must ‘think’ the story forward or backward in time and portray it in another light." The ‘seed’ segment included the title and first six paragraphs of my own "Aftermath" story. A permission statement was included that allowed others to use the 'seed' portion for this edition and to post their extended versions at Elfwood. |
